One of the Twelve Apostles, revered as the pioneer who carried the Gospel to the East.
Mar Addai the Apostle, identified in the Syriac Peshitta as Thaddaeus (Lebbae), proclaimed the Gospel in the Eastern regions and laid the foundation of early Christian communities.
He is traditionally credited with healing King Abgar of Edessa, a milestone in Christian history. His mission led to the growth of the Church in Seleucia-Ctesiphon.
Along with Mar Mari, he established the Holy Qurbana of Addai and Mari — one of the oldest liturgical traditions still preserved today.
